First- for those of you that were unable to attend the Parent’s Council meetings where Dr. Westervelt presented on literacy and writing initiatives in our district, here is a link to her presentation: http://www.portnet.k12.ny.us/Page/11197
It is well worth a look and exactly in line with what we have been advocating for. Thank you Dr. Westervelt!!!
Next– Please save the date–right after our holiday break, on 1/5 at 7:30pm AGATE, in conjunction with the Schreiber HSA, is hosting our annual Recent Grad Panel in the Schreiber Library. This is a phenomenal opportunity to gain iinsight into the Schreiber experience directly from those who know it best, our students. Our grads will have the floor to candidly answer your Qs. (Please note: There will be a brief Schreiber HSA Meeting from 7:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the library before the Recent Graduate Panel begins at 7:30 p.m.)
This is one of AGATE’s most popular events. It is a great night where you can get meaningful information to guide your children on their path through high school and beyond. We encourage you to bring high school and middle school-aged children with you. Sometimes they take advice from other students rather than their parents.
We even recommend this event for parents with young children. It will provide great insight on our district as a whole and enable you to advocate for what you want for your kids as they enter high school. Real change takes time.
Please save the date and we hope to see you there!
Have a great break!!
