AGATE, or Advocacy for Gifted and Talented Education, was founded in the 199os when a group of parents came together to advocate for their advanced learners.

At AGATE we believe all students deserve an appropriate and challenging education designed to help them achieve their fullest potential.  As a home-school association, AGATE works with parents, teachers, administrators and other home-school organizations to ensure our students have access to enrichment opportunities from pre-kindergarten through graduation.

Each year AGATE awards the Toula J. Halperin Scholarship to several Schreiber High School seniors who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement coupled with the passionate and dedicated pursuit of a talent, skill or interest. Students who are interested in applying for the scholarship should speak to their guidance counselors.

In honor of AGATE’s 25th Anniversary, here is a brief history of our organization’s mission, goals, and advocacy efforts.
